The Manteca Council of the Central Valley Association of Realtors is ready to dance the night away for charity. Literally. On Friday, Sept. 15, the organization will host the second annual Dancing with the CVAR Stars charity fundraiser at the MRPS Hall to raise money for Without Permission – a Modesto-based human trafficking awareness and advocacy organization – and a handful of other nonprofits.

According to Frank Orr of Compass Real Estate – who is assisting fellow real estate agent Nelia Tarango in organizing the event – a handful of tickets are still available and can be purchased until 5 p.m. today for the night of dinner, drinks and dancing – a formally-organized dancing competition where volunteers take lessons, perform for those in attendance, and receive paid votes to help raise money for CVAR’s

extensive list of beneficiaries.

At the end of the day, Orr said, it’s an event about people in the real estate community giving back.

“What I’ve found is that realtors are very giving people and this is a chance for us to come together and raise money for some very worthy organizations,” he said. “I think that last count we in the Manteca council gave away something like $30,000 throughout the year last year, and we know that the effort that we put forth will have an impact on the people that we serve.”

The eight dancers that will be featured will all be eligible to receive donations to non-profits of their choice depending on how they place in the contest – with $1,000 going to first place, $500 to second place and $250 for third place.

The theme for the 2017 event will be A Grand Masquerade.

Last year Orr said that the event raised over $9,000 for the non-profit that was fea- tured – through a combination of ticket sales, donations, event fundraisers and votes.

The $65 tickets include a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the dance competition to follow. Orr said that there are just over a dozen tickets left available for purchase, and those interested in attending the semiformal event can purchase tickets through him by calling 209.518.3208.
