Ripon Police nab 4 suspects in auto & other thefts
Three men and one woman were arrested shortly before midnight Tuesday by a Ripon Police officer who ran their license plate and found they were driving a stolen car out of Waterford taken the previous day.
Officer Justin Qualle initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1600 block of West Fourth Street. As the vehicle came to a stop, the officer said that three of the subjects fled on foot and began entering back yards of area residences.
Officers recovered mail from the car believed to have been stolen from the
Stockton area, stolen items from recent residential burglaries and drugs. One suspect had a recently reported stolen Manteca High Buffaloes Section Championship Swim ring in his possession. Detectives are currently working to identify the owners of the stolen property.
Booked into San Joaquin County Jail were Tommy Hon, 30; Sophany Neo, 37; Roth Chan, 32; and Pharin Thath, 37, all of Stockton. They were charged with vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime, identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and Thath, Hon and Neo for giving false information to a police officer and all suspects for possession of burglary tools.
Chan was also found to have an outstanding warrant, police said. Neo and Thath were also charged with obstructing and resisting arrest.
The three men were taken into custody at the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp with a bail set at $205,000 and scheduled to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court in Manteca on Friday at 1:25 p.m.
