Ripon Po­lice nab 4 sus­pects in auto & other thefts

Three men and one woman were ar­rested shortly be­fore mid­night Tues­day by a Ripon Po­lice of­fi­cer who ran their li­cense plate and found they were driv­ing a stolen car out of Water­ford taken the pre­vi­ous day.

Of­fi­cer Justin Qualle ini­ti­ated a traf­fic stop on the ve­hi­cle in the 1600 block of West Fourth Street. As the ve­hi­cle came to a stop, the of­fi­cer said that three of the sub­jects fled on foot and be­gan en­ter­ing back yards of area res­i­dences.

Of­fi­cers re­cov­ered mail from the car be­lieved to have been stolen from the

Stock­ton area, stolen items from re­cent res­i­den­tial bur­glar­ies and drugs. One sus­pect had a re­cently re­ported stolen Man­teca High Buf­faloes Sec­tion Cham­pi­onship Swim ring in his pos­ses­sion. De­tec­tives are cur­rently work­ing to iden­tify the own­ers of the stolen prop­erty.

Booked into San Joaquin County Jail were Tommy Hon, 30; So­phany Neo, 37; Roth Chan, 32; and Pharin Thath, 37, all of Stock­ton. They were charged with ve­hi­cle theft, pos­ses­sion of a stolen ve­hi­cle, pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty, con­spir­acy to com­mit a crime, iden­tity theft, pos­ses­sion of drug para­pher­na­lia, and Thath, Hon and Neo for giv­ing false in­for­ma­tion to a po­lice of­fi­cer and all sus­pects for pos­ses­sion of bur­glary tools.

Chan was also found to have an out­stand­ing war­rant, po­lice said. Neo and Thath were also charged with ob­struct­ing and re­sist­ing ar­rest.

The three men were taken into cus­tody at the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp with a bail set at $205,000 and sched­uled to ap­pear in the Man­teca Branch of the San Joaquin County Su­pe­rior Court in Man­teca on Fri­day at 1:25 p.m.

The woman in the group, Roth Chan, was re­leased from cus­tody, ac­cord­ing to the Sher­iff’s web site.
