Colony Oak class­rooms al­most ready for stu­dents

Some stu­dents at Colony Oak Ele­men­tary School can ex­pect to move into their new class­rooms in the com­ing weeks. Deanna Shirlock, project man­ager at CT Bray­ton & Sons, Inc., is an­tic­i­pat­ing Mon­day, Sept. 24, as the tar­get date for young­sters to fi­nally re­lo­cate to their STEM (Sci­ence, Technology, Engi­neer­ing and Math) ed­u­ca­tional spa­ces — specif­i­cally, Build­ings F & G and the re­strooms — made pos­si­ble by voter-ap­proved Mea­sure ‘G.’

At Mon­day’s Ripon Uni­fied school board meet­ing, she noted that the case­work was in­stalled while the floors and ceil­ings were com­pleted ear­lier that day.

Su­per­in­ten­dent Ziggy Robe­son and Colony Oak Prin­ci­pal Ch­eryl Grif­fiths ex­pressed their ex­cite­ment of fi­nally see­ing stu­dents get­ting into the new class­rooms.

“We’re ready for the move in a cou­ple of weeks,” Robe­son said.

Ac­cord­ing to Shirlock, the first phase of ren­o­va­tion to this kinder­garten- thougheighth- grade cam­pus con­tinue to come to­gether.

As for as the re­cent up­date, she pointed out the fol­low­ing:

▶Off- site work has been com­pleted with the ex­cep­tion of re­lo­cat­ing the PG&E pole along the new com­pleted en­trance off East San­tos Road.

▶Wa­ter well site work con­tin­ues with tanks and equip­ment sched­uled to ar­rive this week.

▶Plas­ter and roof­ing has been com­pleted to all ex­te­ri­ors of the new build­ings.

▶Deck­ing along the cov­ered walk­ways were done for the first four build­ings.

▶Paint­ing of doors and in­stal­la­tion of door hard­ware on these build­ings is still go­ing on.

▶Land­scap­ing in this area is sched­uled to take place soon.

▶K- 2 stu­dents can an­tic­i­pate mov­ing into Build­ings A & B by early Oc­to­ber.

▶Work on Build­ings C, D, & E is on­go­ing and is still sev­eral weeks away from com­ple­tion.
