Turning Up Everywhere
While the biggest swordfish are turning up in Victoria and Tasmania, with the increased effort, they are popping up all over the place. There have been a reasonable number being caught off Sydney, and early indications are showing that anglers are getting a bite every day or so. Now these fish are nowhere near the size of the fish down south, averaging around 100 pounds.
It is a similar case over on the west coast, where the Halco Tackle boys produced the goods in the Rottnest Trench on their first attempt. Similar-size fish under 100 pounds have been caught up out of Exmouth as well. What is really interesting is that a 386-pound fish was recently caught by Jethro Bonnitcha on his first daytime attempt. Again, it was in the southern corner of the state out of Albany.
