Dorothy Ann Cur­tice set the women’s 12-pound-test line-class world record for white mar­lin with this 122-pound fish that she caught on March 30, 1953, while fish­ing off Bi­mini in the Ba­hamas. Cur­tice, a na­tive of Flint, Michi­gan, skill­fully played the record white mar­lin for over an hour af­ter the fish ate a bal­ly­hoo she was trolling from Ba­hama Mama, cap­tained at the time by Eric Sawyer. The record re­mains un­beaten af­ter six and a half decades.
