While broc­coli rabe is but a dis­tant cousin to its name­sake veg­etable (it’s ac­tu­ally a closer rel­a­tive of Chi­nese cab­bage), it shares its nu­tri­tional cred. A sin­gle bunch con­tains about 16 grams of pro­tein, 12 grams of fiber, and 5 grams of iron. And now’s the time to en­joy it: It’s more ten­der in cooler months, from fall till spring. Go for young rabe, marked by small leaves and bright stems, to power up these recipes.
