To Brighten Sallow Skin

What: On light skin tones, think pink to neutralize sallowness. For medium tones, purple cancels out yellowing. Try: 1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid, in Lavender, $28, urban decay.com; or 2. YSL Forever

Light Creator CC Primer, in Rose, $45, yslbeautyus.com. How: Apply as you would a foundation, focusing mainly around the center of the face, where yellowness tends to be the most apparent, explains Lijha Stewart, director of artistry and education at Make Up For Ever.

To Hide Dark Circles

What: “If you’re going to invest in one corrector, make it for the under-eye area,” says New York City–based makeup artist Andrew Sotomayor. Apricot knocks out gray, blue, and purple tones on light-tomedium skin, while orange and red tones erase shadows on darker complexions. Try: 3. Becca Backlight Targeted Colour Corrector, in Peach, $30, beccacosmetics .com; or 4. Smashbox Color Correcting Stick, in Look Less Tired-Dark, $23, smash box.com. How: Darkness occurs predominantly below the inner corners of the eye, so concentrate the color there, then dab your regular concealer over the entire under-eye area.

To Conceal Redness

What: A green primer is your go-to for rosacea or prominent, widespread flushing. For slight blotchiness around the nose or mouth, yellow is the better bet. Try: 5. Make Up For Ever Skin Equalizer

in Redness Correcting Primer, $37, makeupforever.com;

or 6. Chanel Le Blanc Light Creator Brightening Makeup

Base, in Mimosa, $55, chanel .com. How: Use a concealer brush and a pea-size amount of product over ruddiness, adding more as needed.

To Even Out Sunspots

What: Freckles and hyperpigmentation can appear gray when obscured with foundation alone. Spot-treat using yellow for fair-tomedium tones, or peach for deeper complexions. Try: 7. Marc Jacobs Beauty Cover(t) Stick Color Corrector, in Getting Warmer, $42, marcjacobsbeauty.com. How: Apply corrector directly to the spot, then blend with a finger or small brush.

To Hide a Pimple

What: Wake up to a blemish on your wedding day? Grab a green concealer (really !). Try: 8. Essence Cosmetics Say No to Redness, $3, essence-cosmetics.com. How: Use an eyeliner brush to dot a small amount onto the culprit. Follow with a light layer of foundation.

To Add Radiance

What: A true pink counteracts dullness and brightens pale complexions. On medium-to-olive skin, yellow adds luminosity. Try: 9. Algenist’s Reveal Concentrated Color Correcting Drops, in Pink, $38, algenist.com; or 10. Lancôme Miracle CC Cushion Color Correcting

Primer, in Yellow, $40, sephora.com. How: Get that lit-from-within glow by applying it over your entire face before putting on foundation.
