THE INSIDE SCOOP

Martha Stewart Weddings - - THE PLANNER -

Q: I have seven close friends, but I want a small bridal party. How can I include everyone in a special way? —Christina, via email

A: No one knows better than Shira Savada, our real weddings editor, about making all your besties part of the celebration:

1. Invite them to help you prep.

“You can have anyone with you while you get ready,” says Shira. “Ask them to sport a color, or give them flowers to wear in their hair for the wedding, so they feel extra-special.”

2. Have them do a reading.

Your ceremony is the core of the day, after all. Choose a passage you love, or ask them to suggest one with special meaning.

3. Delegate a “house party.”

This southern tradition entails asking a few ladies to help with tasks like greeting or encouraging guests to sign the guestbook. Consider seating them in a place of honor, just behind family, at the ceremony.
