Two traf­fic fa­tal­i­ties over week­end

Two peo­ple died this week­end as the re­sult of two sep­a­rate mo­tor ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dents that oc­curred on Thurs­day and Fri­day in Charles County, au­thor­i­ties re­port.

Ernest Young III, 54, of Wal­dorf suf­fered se­vere in­juries in a two-ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on Thurs­day evening and was flown by he­li­copter to Prince Ge­orge’s Hospital Cen­ter. On Satur­day, Young suc­cumbed to his in­juries and was pro­nounced dead at the hospital.

Rid­ing as a pas­sen­ger, Mary Proctor, 71, of Brandy­wine was killed in an ac­ci­dent on Fri­day evening af­ter the driver lost con­trol of the car and crashed into a tree. Proctor was taken to the hospital by am­bu­lance where she was pro­nounced de­ceased.

Young’s death on Satur­day marks the sixth traf­fic fatal­ity of the year thus far in Charles County.
