Two traffic fatalities over weekend
Alcohol may have been a factor in one
Two people died this weekend as the result of two separate motor vehicle accidents that occurred on Thursday and Friday in Charles County, authorities report.
Ernest Young III, 54, of Waldorf suffered severe injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Thursday evening and was flown by helicopter to Prince George’s Hospital Center. On Saturday, Young succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Riding as a passenger, Mary Proctor, 71, of Brandywine was killed in an accident on Friday evening after the driver lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. Proctor was taken to the hospital by ambulance where she was pronounced deceased.
Young’s death on Saturday marks the sixth traffic fatality of the year thus far in Charles County.
