Theft from home in White Plains
Sometime between March 17 at 12 p.m. and March 21 at 8 a.m., someone stole a microwave from a home under construction in the 4000 block of Edmonton Court in White Plains. Cpl. J. Walter is investigating.
Sobriety checkpoint conducted in Waldorf
On March 17, the CCSO Traffic Operations Unit conducted a sobriety checkpoint on St. Patrick’s Drive in Waldorf. Officers from other agency divisions, as well as an officer from the La Plata Town Police De- partment, participated in the event using funding from the Maryland Highway Safety Office.
During the checkpoint, 753 drivers were contacted by officers and provided information about impaired driving. Criminal, traffic and civil citations were issued to several violators. No major incidents were reported.
Waldorf man arrested for assault, handgun possession
On March 12, officers responded to the 2200 block of Community Drive in Waldorf for the report of a domestic assault with a handgun.
An investigation revealed that the suspect, Clinard Ware, 48, of Waldorf had allegedly assaulted a female acquaintance before bran- dishing a handgun. A loaded handgun was recovered on the scene, and Ware allegedly admitted to owning more guns. It was later learned that Ware is prohibited by law from having firearms. On March 23 at 7:45 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at Ware’s residence on Community Drive.
Handguns, ammunition, and a variety of magazines were reportedly seized. Officer J. Pogar is investigating.
Rims and tires stolen from car
Sometime between March 16 at 11 p.m. and March 17 at 6 a.m., someone stole the rims and tires off of a black Mercedes Benz in the 2400 block of Hanover Court in Waldorf. Pfc. D. Butler is investigating.
