La Plata’s But­ler has mem­o­rable wrestling sea­son

It has been nearly a month since Cameron But­ler cap­tured the Class 2A-1A state cham­pi­onship at The Show Place Arena in Up­per Marl­boro in the 120-pound fi­nal with a 4-0 de­ci­sion over Kyle Farace of Oak­land Mills, one of only two state cham­pi­onships won by South­ern Mary­land Ath­letic Con­fer­ence wrestlers this sea­son.

For his ef­forts, But­ler, an All-SMAC first-team se­lec­tion, was named this year’s wrestling Ath­lete of the Year in Charles County.

While re­flect­ing on fi­nally fin­ish­ing atop the state’s wrestling podium to end his high school ca­reer, the La Plata se­nior will never for­get how tough the road to the cham­pi­onship has been lead­ing up
