La Plata’s Butler has memorable wrestling season
It has been nearly a month since Cameron Butler captured the Class 2A-1A state championship at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro in the 120-pound final with a 4-0 decision over Kyle Farace of Oakland Mills, one of only two state championships won by Southern Maryland Athletic Conference wrestlers this season.
For his efforts, Butler, an All-SMAC first-team selection, was named this year’s wrestling Athlete of the Year in Charles County.
