In­dian Head hosts pro wrestling show

The USO brought pro wrestling ac­tion to In­dian Head in Mil­i­tary May­hem at the In­dian Head Naval Sur­face War­fare Cen­ter on Feb. 19. GXW and Global Force Wrestling hit the ring to honor the men and women who serve our coun­try. The show was or­ga­nized by Bran­don “Money” Greene of GXW, a Ridge res­i­dent and Great Mills High School grad­u­ate, and mem­bers of the USO. In the cham­pi­onship match, Gun­ner be­came GXW Cham­pion by de­feat­ing Cory Bush. Wrestling su­per­stars Mickie James and Jeff Jar­rett teamed up with Chris Sarge Me­len­dez. The night fea­tured five matches and a battle royal. The GXW tag team champions con­sist­ing of “Pork Chop” John­son and Greene re­tain­ing their tag team gold against the sea­soned vil­lain­ous team of the Good­fel­lows. Tele­vi­sion wrestler and for­mer Marine Gun­ner de­feated the “Weight of the World” Cory Bush to win the Ground Xero Heavy­weight cham­pi­onship. The head­line of the evening was for­mer WWE di­vas cham­pion Mickie James com­ing out to thank the crowd for their sup­port and, dur­ing her speech, was in­ter­rupted by Ring Of Honor stars Rhett Ti­tus and “The Set.” Af­ter the three men started to bully James, out came the he­roes of For­mer WWE and TNA cham­pion Jeff Jar­rett and wounded vet­eran Chris Me­len­dez, and Army Sgt. who lost his leg in Iraq. Af­ter an emo­tional speech, the six bat­tled each other un­til Me­len­dez over­came one of “The Set” mem­bers, re­mov­ing his leg and nail­ing him with a sin­gle leg drop­kick from the top rope.
