Indian Head hosts pro wrestling show
The USO brought pro wrestling action to Indian Head in Military Mayhem at the Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center on Feb. 19. GXW and Global Force Wrestling hit the ring to honor the men and women who serve our country. The show was organized by Brandon “Money” Greene of GXW, a Ridge resident and Great Mills High School graduate, and members of the USO. In the championship match, Gunner became GXW Champion by defeating Cory Bush. Wrestling superstars Mickie James and Jeff Jarrett teamed up with Chris Sarge Melendez. The night featured five matches and a battle royal. The GXW tag team champions consisting of “Pork Chop” Johnson and Greene retaining their tag team gold against the seasoned villainous team of the Goodfellows. Television wrestler and former Marine Gunner defeated the “Weight of the World” Cory Bush to win the Ground Xero Heavyweight championship. The headline of the evening was former WWE divas champion Mickie James coming out to thank the crowd for their support and, during her speech, was interrupted by Ring Of Honor stars Rhett Titus and “The Set.” After the three men started to bully James, out came the heroes of Former WWE and TNA champion Jeff Jarrett and wounded veteran Chris Melendez, and Army Sgt. who lost his leg in Iraq. After an emotional speech, the six battled each other until Melendez overcame one of “The Set” members, removing his leg and nailing him with a single leg dropkick from the top rope.
