Blue Crabs com­plete 2016 ros­ter be­fore open­ing day

Just a day be­fore its open­ing night game ver­sus Lan­caster at Re­gency Fur­ni­ture Sta­dium in Wal­dorf, the South­ern Mary­land Blue Crabs put the fin­ish­ing touches on its ros­ter for the 2016 sea­son.

Just two days af­ter sign­ing for­mer Wash­ing­ton Na­tion­als sec­ond base­man Steve Lom­bar­dozzi Jr., the Blue Crabs signed three more play­ers Wed­nes­day to the 26-man com­plete ros­ter.

The Blue Crabs re-signed pitcher Tim Sex­ton and signed catcher Adrian Martinez and out­fielder Jon Dziomba. The team cur­rently has 12 re­turn­ing play­ers on the ros­ter.

Last sea­son, South­ern Mary­land fin­ished with a 69-71 over­all record, win­ning the first-half Free­dom Divi­sion reg­u­lar sea­son ti­tle with a 42-28 record, clinch­ing a spot into the post­sea­son. The Blue Crabs claimed the Free­dom Divi­sion cham­pi­onship se­ries over 2014 de­fend­ing cham­pion Lan­caster, then fell to Som­er­set in four games in the Atlantic League
