McDon­ald’s hosts teacher ap­pre­ci­a­tion Twit­ter con­test

On Tues­day, May 3, the McDon­ald’s Fam­ily Restau­rants of Greater Washington, D.C. will host a Twit­ter con­test of­fer­ing lo­cal teach­ers a chance to win a free break­fast party for fac­ulty and $1,000 to­wards school sup­plies for their class­rooms in honor of Teacher Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Week.

Each Tues­day dur­ing the school year, ed­u­ca­tors re­ceive free McCafé cof­fee or tea at area McDon­ald’s restau­rants by pre­sent­ing their school ID card. Teach­ers that tweet photos with their bev­er­ages May 3 on Teacher Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day to @McDon­ald­s_DMV with the hash­tag #TeacherTues­days and the name of their school will be en­tered into the con­test.

Two win­ners will be cho­sen and will be sur­prised at their schools on Fri­day, May 6.

Wal­dorf bank adds ad­vi­sor to its An­napo­lis team

Com­mu­nity Bank of the Ch­e­sa­peake an­nounced re­cently that John-Patrick Sol­lock, in­vest­ment as­so­ciate, In­finex In­vest­ments, has joined the Com­mu­nity Wealth Ad­vi­sors An­napo­lis team.

Sol­lock has a long his­tory in bank­ing and fi­nances. For over 10 years he has served in both small and large bank­ing in­sti­tu­tions, gain­ing ex­pe­ri­ence, ex­per­tise and lead­er­ship skills. His back­ground in­cludes work­ing in var­i­ous po­si­tions such as the re­tail bank branch, busi­ness bank­ing and fi­nan­cial ad­vi­sory roles.

Sol­lock is in­volved in the An­napo­lis com­mu­nity as pres­i­dent of the Anne Arun­del Young Repub­li­cans, a mem­ber of Mensa In­ter­na­tional and is in­volved in both his par­ish, St. Mary’s Church, and his daugh­ter’s school, St. Anne’s.

Head­quar­tered in Wal­dorf, Com­mu­nity Bank of the Ch­e­sa­peake is a full-ser­vice com­mer­cial bank and has 12 bank­ing cen­ters and five ded­i­cated com­mer­cial lend­ing cen­ters.

Sage grad­u­ates Real­tor Lead­er­ship Academy

Ce­celia Sage of White Plains, a real­tor at Long & Foster Real Es­tate, was one of 22 grad­u­ates from the Mary­land As­so­ci­a­tion of Real­tors’ 16th an­nual Lead­er­ship Academy hon­ored at cer­e­monies held in An­napo­lis re­cently.

The Lead­er­ship Academy was formed to help Real­tors un­der­stand the im­por­tant role they play in their com­mu­nity and the need to en­hance the lead­er­ship skills, knowl­edge and com­pe­ten­cies, ac­cord­ing to a Mary­land As­so­ci­a­tion of Real­tors press re­lease.

The South­ern Mary­land As­so­ci­a­tion of Real­tors, one of six­teen lo­cal Real­tor boards and as­so­ci­a­tions in Mary­land, is an ad­vo­cate of this pro­gram.

The Lead­er­ship Academy has a cur­ricu­lum de­signed to de­velop skills in lead­er­ship, com­mu­ni­ca­tions, strate­gic plan­ning, leg­isla­tive and govern­ment af­fairs, and com­mu­nity in­volve­ment. Classes are con­ducted over seven months and stress the value of pro­fes­sional and per­sonal com­mit­ment to busi­ness as well as char­i­ta­ble and civic en­deav­ors, the press re­lease said.

Steve Brown, the 2014 pres­i­dent of the Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of Real­tors, ad­dressed the grad­u­ates and guests. Brown said “… that the great­est sign of lead­er­ship that one can achieve is to gather a group of peo­ple to­gether to achieve one com­mon goal.”
