Watershed restoration public meeting scheduled May 9
The Department of Planning and Growth Management will hold a watershed restoration public meeting 6 p.m. Monday, May 9, in the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore St., La Plata. The meeting will cover the draft documents on the Port Tobacco River Watershed assessment, Mattawoman Creek and Lower Patuxent River Watershed assessments, and the Charles County Stormwater Restoration Plan.
The restoration plan addresses Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) with stormwater waste load allocations including the following: Mattawoman Creek nutrient TMDL, Lower Patuxent River — Indian Creek fecal coliform bacteria TMDL, Potomac River Tidal polychlorinated biphenyl TMDLs, and Chesapeake Bay nutrient and sediment TMDL.
These documents will be available at www. charlescountymd.gov/watershed beginning Monday, May 9. Residents wishing to make verbal or written comments are encouraged to attend the public meeting and/or review the plans online. Comments will be accepted until Thursday, June 9.
