Farm bureau to award $1,000 scholarship
The Charles County Farm Bureau is offering a college scholarship for the 2016-2017 school year. One applicant will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be a resident of Charles County; a high school senior or a currently enrolled, fulltime student attending a two or four year college, university or trade school majoring in an agriculture related field, natural resource management, forestry or animal science; and have a grade point average of at least 2.5.
Preference may be given to members or family members of Charles County Farm Bureau and 4-H. A scholarship recipient may be eligible to receive this scholarship a maximum of four times, providing they meet all other criteria.
Students must write an essay describing themselves, their career goals and aspirations, and how they plan on enhancing the Charles County agricultural community after their college graduation. Applicants must also include why they should be chosen to receive this scholarship. Essays should be single spaced, 12 point font, and two pages maximum.
The deadline to apply for the scholarship is June 1. Application forms may be obtained by contacting the Charles County Farm Bureau or e-mail a request to email@example.com. Students may also obtain applications from their school’s career counselor or from the Charles County Extension Office.
Each scholarship applicant must complete a scholarship application and provide all required attachments to be eligible for the scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded based on scholastic achievement, farm and community activity, character and character reference, and financial need. Incomplete applications may not be considered. Scholarships will be awarded to winning applicant at the Charles County Farm Bureau picnic in July. The scholarship check will be mailed directly to the college, university, or trade school in which the winner will be attending.
