Youth try­outs and reg­is­tra­tions

Base­ball and soft­ball

The cap­i­tal re­gion of the Na­tional Team Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion Se­ries of USA Base­ball will hold one-day try­outs with play­ers aim­ing to be named to the cap­i­tal’s 11-U, 13-U, 14-U, 16-U and 17-U teams, which then will com­pete, in their re­spec­tive age groups, against 15 other re­gions from the across the coun­try.

Lo­cal try­outs will be held at Scar­dina Base­ball Field, 499 Ski Lane in Millersville. 11-U try­out date is May 7. 13-U try­out date is May 8. 14-U try­out date is May 14. 16-U and 17-U try­out date is May 15.

RBI/AAU Mid-At­lantic Con­fer­ence is look­ing for base­ball teams for its 16-U and 19-U di­vi­sions.

Eight teams will be se­lected for these di­vi­sions with an AAU Mary­land state tour­na­ment at the end of the sea­son for all el­i­gi­ble teams. Team MaxBat will hold a na­tional re­cruit­ing com­bine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13 at Riva Area Park in David­sonville. The event is run by cur­rent col­lege coaches, play­ers and Ma­jor League Base­ball scouts. The cost is $200 per player. Bas­ket­ball

The Lit­tle Ea­gles Boys Bas­ket­ball Camp for chil­dren 8 to 14 will oc­cur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 to 24 and June 27 to July 1 at North Point High School. St. Mary’s Col­lege of Mary­land will hold bas­ket­ball camps this sum­mer.

The Chris Har­ney Bas­ket­ball School will have its tra­di­tional two weeks of in­struc­tional day camp, July 17 to 20 and July 25 to 28, and its ses­sion of gym rats on July 29. Also, the col­lege has part­nered with the Univer­sity of Mary­land bas­ket­ball pro­gram to bring a ses­sion of the Mark Tur­geon Bas­ket­ball Overnight Camp to St. Mary’s City, from July 20 to 23.

Foot­ball

Two-time Su­per Bowl cham­pion Gary Clark and NFL leg­ends will hold a three-day youth and fam­ily train­ing camp be­gin­ning June 21 in Charles County. There is no cost to reg­is­ter to at­tend, but space is lim­ited. For more in­for­ma­tion, go to yourNFL­ex­pe­ri­ence.com.

Golf

The South­ern Mary­land Op­ti­mist Ju­nior Golf Cham­pi­onships will con­duct five nine-hole tour­na­ments for chil­dren 10 to 18 (based upon player’s age as of July 30, 2016).

The tour­na­ments will be held May 23 at Wi­comico Shores Golf Course in Me­chan­icsville, May 31 at Hawthorne Coun­try Club in La Plata, June 2 at Ch­e­sa­peake Hills Golf Course in Lusby, June 6 at Bre­ton Bay Golf and Coun­try Club in Leonard­town and June 9 at White Plains Golf Course. The events be­gin each day at 3:30 p.m. with regis­tra­tion at 3 p.m. Par­tic­i­pants will be fit­ted in un­til 5 p.m., so they do not need to be taken out of school.
