NSF In­dian Head re­port shows base’s eco­nomic, em­ploy­ment im­por­tance

The Naval Sup­port Ac­tiv­ity South Po­tomac re­cently re­leased its an­nual eco­nomics and de­mo­graph­ics re­port which ex­am­ines the im­pact of one of its larger bases, the Naval Sup­port Fa­cil­ity In­dian Head.

Ac­cord­ing to the Naval Sup­port Ac­tiv­ity South Po­tomac press re­lease, the to­tal amount of con­tracts at NSF In­dian Head dur­ing FY2015 was $71.6 mil­lion and the amount of lo­cal con­tracts at NSF In­dian Head dur­ing FY2015 was $39.3 mil­lion. The top lo­cal­i­ties for NSF In­dian Head per­son­nel were Charles County (40 per­cent) and the Town of In­dian Head (17 per­cent).

“The re­port high­lighted how large of an em­ploy­ment cen­ter NSF In­dian Head re­ally is, by look­ing at the num­bers of per­son­nel that it has as well as the amount in pay­roll that they re­ceived and those are dol­lars that fil­ter out into the econ­omy,” said Brian Klaas, board of di­rec­tor of the Charles County Cham­ber of Com­merce and co-chair of its
