84 Lum­ber launches ‘Op­er­a­tion Ap­pre­ci­a­tion’

84 Lum­ber, a pri­vately held build­ing ma­te­ri­als and ser­vices supplier, is con­tin­u­ing its sup­port of the U.S. mil­i­tary with the launch of “Op­er­a­tion Ap­pre­ci­a­tion.” Through­out May, which is Na­tional Mil­i­tar y Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Month, 84 Lum­ber is ini­ti­at­ing spe­cial pro­grams and ac­tiv­i­ties ded­i­cated to the recog­ni­tion of mil­i­tary ser­vice mem­bers, in­clud­ing a Face­book con­test, com­bat wounded pre­ferred park­ing spa­ces, store dis­counts and con­tin­ued sup­port of Homes for Our Troops.

Now through May 27, 84 Lum­ber is giv­ing away $8,400 per week in store credit to three de­serv­ing mil­i­tary fam­i­lies or ser­vice mem­bers.

In ad­di­tion, the com­pany is pro­fil­ing sev­eral of its own vet­eran em­ploy­ees on its Face­book page.

At each of its more than 250 store lo­ca­tions, 84 Lum­ber is rec­og­niz­ing in­jured vet­er­ans through the in­stal­la­tion of com­bat wounded park­ing signs and spa­ces. The pre­ferred park­ing spots are in honor of the Wounded War­riors Fam­ily Sup­port pro­gram.

For the month of May, the com­pany has in­creased its nor­mal 10 per­cent mil­i­tary dis­count to 15 per­cent.

The lum­ber supplier has stores in White Plains, Me­chan­icsville and Lex­ing­ton Park.
