Fire marshals investigate dual vehicle arsons
State fire marshals are investigating two vehicle arsons set three days apart from each other in Waldorf and Newburg.
On May 28 around 2:02 a.m., members of the Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department responded to Billingsley Road and Bensville Road in Waldorf after a passerby reported the burning vehicle, according to authorities. Fire marshals determined that someone intentionally started a fire in the passenger compartment of the Honda Accord.
On May 31 around 2:30 a.m., firefighters of the Cobb Island VFD responded to the 15300 block of Matthews Manor Road in Newburg after the owner awoke to his dog barking and discovered his 2003 Chevy Cavalier was on fire. Fire marshals assumed the investigation and determined that someone had intentionally started a fire in the engine compartment of the car, a press release states.
