Football

Two-time Super Bowl champion Gary Clark and NFL legends will hold a three-day youth and family training camp beginning June 21 in Charles County.

There is no cost to register to attend, but space is limited.

Golf

The Southern Maryland Optimist Junior Golf Championships will conduct nine-hole tournaments for children 10 to 18 (based upon player’s age as of July 30, 2016).

The tournaments will be held June 6 at Breton Bay Golf and Country Club in Leonardtown and June 9 at White Plains Golf Course. The events begin each day at 3:30 p.m. with registration at 3 p.m. Participants will be fitted in until 5 p.m., so they do not need to be taken out of school.

The boy and girl winners in all 12- to 18-year-old divisions in each event qualify for the Maryland-South Delaware District of Optimist International Tournament to be held June 11 at Marlton Golf Course. District winners qualify for the Optimist International tournament at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. in late July.

Charles County Department of Public Works’ parks division will offer junior golf clinics at White Plains Golf Course from 8 to 9:15 a.m. July 18 to 21 for children 8 to 12 and from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Aug. 8 to 11 for children 13 to 17. The cost is $50.

Registration is required. Maximum class size is eight participants. Golf clinic participants will receive a complimentary round of golf.
