Grace Lutheran school grad­u­ates 8th grade class

Grace Lutheran school in La Plata ended its 42nd year in min­istry with the grad­u­a­tion and com­mence­ment ex­er­cises of its 8th grade class on June 2. The stu­dents had a mod­i­fied chapel ser­vice with mes­sages from Rev. Charles Long, Prin­ci­pal Jeff Bur­kee and teach­ers Paula Jones, Ann Stine and Jill Thomp­son. The stu­dents will be mov­ing on to sev­eral dif­fer­ent high schools in South­ern Mary­land, most plac­ing in ac­cel­er­ated pro­grams and hon­ors classes.

Carolyn Weimert, a teacher at Grace Lutheran school in La Plata, gave the tra­di­tional high five to eighth graders Dil­lon Rich and Katie Somers at their grad­u­a­tion cer­e­mony June 2. Many of the grad­u­ates started their aca­demic jour­ney at Grace in Weimert’s class.
