Police raid meth lab
Virginia men arrested in La Plata home
After an extensive narcotics investigation, police raided a home in La Plata last Friday and arrested two suspects after discovering an active methamphetamine lab inside a trailer behind the house, according to authorities. Investigators estimated $10,000 worth of cocaine was recovered, as well as meth, marijuana, narcotic prescription medication, two long guns and ammunition.
Charles Innis Garber, 37, of Madison, Va., was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, while Brady Alan Hart, 36, of Virginia was charged as a fugitive from justice.
On June 17, authorized by a search and seizure warrant, narcotics officers and emergency service teams from Charles County and St. Mary’s County sheriff’s offices raided a property on the 9300 block of Slidell Place. During the raid, Garber was allegedly found inside the trailer with the meth lab where reagents commonly used in its production were located, according to court records. A HAZMAT team was called to the scene to dismantle the lab.
Garber’s bond was set at $25,000 on Monday. He is currently in custody to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 15.
