Vir­ginia men ar­rested in La Plata home

Af­ter an ex­ten­sive nar­cotics in­ves­ti­ga­tion, po­lice raided a home in La Plata last Fri­day and ar­rested two sus­pects af­ter dis­cov­er­ing an ac­tive metham­phetamine lab in­side a trailer be­hind the house, ac­cord­ing to au­thor­i­ties. In­ves­ti­ga­tors es­ti­mated $10,000 worth of co­caine was re­cov­ered, as well as meth, marijuana, nar­cotic pre­scrip­tion med­i­ca­tion, two long guns and am­mu­ni­tion.

Charles In­nis Gar­ber, 37, of Madi­son, Va., was ar­rested and charged with man­u­fac­tur­ing metham­phetamine, while Brady Alan Hart, 36, of Vir­ginia was charged as a fugi­tive from jus­tice.

On June 17, au­tho­rized by a search and seizure war­rant, nar­cotics of­fi­cers and emer­gency ser­vice teams from Charles County and St. Mary’s County sher­iff’s of­fices raided a prop­erty on the 9300 block of Slidell Place. Dur­ing the raid, Gar­ber was al­legedly found in­side the trailer with the meth lab where reagents com­monly used in its pro­duc­tion were lo­cated, ac­cord­ing to court records. A HAZMAT team was called to the scene to dis­man­tle the lab.

Gar­ber’s bond was set at $25,000 on Mon­day. He is cur­rently in cus­tody to await a pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing sched­uled for July 15.
