Charles County Sher­iff ’s Of­fice han­dled bar­ri­cade sit­u­a­tion

Nan­je­moy home sur­rounded as po­lice tried to get sub­ject to come out

Af­ter hours of stand­off, po­lice safely ap­pre­hended a man who caused a bar­ri­cade sit­u­a­tion at a Nan­je­moy home Thurs­day, ac­cord­ing to author­i­ties. The man was armed with a shot­gun and al­legedly threat­ened to shoot po­lice and him­self.

Around 9:35 a.m. on Thurs­day, deputies of the Charles County Sher­iff’s Of­fice re­sponded to a house on the 9500 block of Iron­sides Road af­ter a fam­ily mem­ber re­ported he was mak­ing threats and ob­served him with a gun, po­lice said. The man, who has not yet been iden­ti­fied, is said to be in his late 40s. Deputies sur­rounded the house upon ar­rival af­ter the man re­fused to come out and threat­ened sui­cide.

Around 3:45 p.m., of­fi­cers saw an op­por­tu­nity to safely en­ter the house and ap­pre­hended the man with­out in­ci­dent, author­i­ties said.

Charges are pend­ing.
