Nanjemoy home surrounded as police tried to get subject to come out
After hours of standoff, police safely apprehended a man who caused a barricade situation at a Nanjemoy home Thursday, according to authorities. The man was armed with a shotgun and allegedly threatened to shoot police and himself.
Around 9:35 a.m. on Thursday, deputies of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house on the 9500 block of Ironsides Road after a family member reported he was making threats and observed him with a gun, police said. The man, who has not yet been identified, is said to be in his late 40s. Deputies surrounded the house upon arrival after the man refused to come out and threatened suicide.
Around 3:45 p.m., officers saw an opportunity to safely enter the house and apprehended the man without incident, authorities said.
Charges are pending.
