Sus­pected gun­man at large, cash re­ward of­fered

Po­lice are ac­tively search­ing for a man wanted for homi­cide af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve he shot two peo­ple at a Lau­rel mo­tel on Saturday, killing a La Plata woman and in­jur­ing a man, ac­cord­ing to au­thor­i­ties.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors of the Howard County Po­lice Depart­ment have of­fered a cash re­ward up to $5,000 for in­for­ma­tion lead­ing to the ar­rest of Ken­neth Frizzell Diggs Jr., 47, of no fixed ad­dress, who is sus­pected of fa­tally shoot­ing Amanda Duer, 29, and at­tempt­ing to mur­der Der­ick Hen­der­son, 33, of Washington, D.C., af­ter a dis­pute at the Turf Mo­tel.

At 4:30 a.m. on July 2, po­lice re­sponded to the Turf Mo­tel lo­cated in the 9800 block of Washington Boule­vard for the re­port of a shoot­ing. Upon ar­rival, of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered

two vic­tims suf­fer­ing from gun­shots wounds, a press re­lease states. Duer was trans­ported to Lau­rel Re­gional Hos­pi­tal, and was later pro­nounced dead. Hen­der­son was taken to a shock trauma unit for a gun­shot wound to his leg, but has since been re­leased from the hos­pi­tal.

De­tec­tives be­lieve that Diggs and the vic­tims knew each other and a dis­pute had taken place be­fore the shoot­ing, au­thor­i­ties re­ported. Wit­nesses told po­lice that they saw Diggs en­ter the door­way of the vic­tims’ mo­tel room and fire sev­eral shots at both of them.
