McDonald’s presents $700 check to Center for Children
The McDonald’s restaurants in Waldorf and La Plata donated almost $700 raised through their “McCafe for Cause” fundraiser in May to the Center for Children. The restaurants donate 50 percent of McCafe product sales each Monday to a different non-profit organization each month with the goal of raising money for 12 area non-profits this year. Parris Stedman, the Marketing Manager for the Welburn Organization, came up with the goal of choosing 12 non-profits in their market to designate as a “McCafe for A Cause” benefactor, one each month for the year. The “McCafe for A Cause” is a program where each Monday of the month, 50 percent of all revenue from each McCafe sold goes to that particular nonprofit. “Today we had the pleasure of presenting a check to our May McCafe for A Cause recipient, Center for Children,” Stedman said in a press release. “Thank you so much for all that you do for our community and Charles County.” The Welburn Organization operates the two McDonald’s restaurants in La Plata as well as the restaurant on Crain Highway in Waldorf, next to the Outback Steakhouse. The Center for Children is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and the promotion of positive mental health through crisis intervention, therapy, education and advocacy in Southern Maryland.
