Woman dies days after crash
Police continuing to investigate accident
Police say a driver who crashed head-on with another vehicle last week died in the hospital on Sunday afternoon, succumbing to her injuries.
After she was airlifted to the hospital last Tuesday, Susan Marie
Hildner, 75, battled severe injuries for several days before she was pronounced dead at approximately 4:17 p.m. on Sunday, according to a Maryland State Police press release.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
Around 4:06 p.m. on Aug. 9, state troopers responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 6 at Mary Drive, a press release states. Preliminary investigation indicated that Hildner had been traveling westbound on Route 6 in a Honda Pilot as a woman driving a Hyundai Santa Fe traveled eastbound with five children in the car. For unknown reasons, Hildner crossed over the center line and into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Santa Fe.
All occupants of the Santa Fe were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated, while Hildner was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia, where she later died from her injuries.
Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the MSP La Plata Barrack duty officer at 301-392-1200. The investigation is continuing and being investigated by Tfc. K. Robinson.
