• Zachary Keeler of Wal­dorf re­ceived de­part­men­tal hon­ors in man­age­ment. He is a dou­ble ma­jor in busi­ness ad­min­is­tra­tion, with a con­cen­tra­tion in man­age­ment, and eco­nom­ics. He has been named to the dean’s list. Keeler is ac­tive in the stu­dent com­mu­nity, a mem­ber of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Pres­i­dent’s Lead­er­ship Cir­cle and is the re­cip­i­ent of aca­demic schol­ar­ships and awards. He has also earned a spot as a Cap­i­tal One Aca­demic All Amer­i­can. He plans to pur­sue his MBA and seeks a fu­ture in con­sult­ing.

• Caitlin Tay­lor of Wal­dorf re­ceived hon­ors in gen­eral ed­u­ca­tion and de­part­men­tal hon­ors in po­lit­i­cal science. She was the top stu­dent in the grad­u­at­ing class of po­lit­i­cal science ma­jors and the May 2016 com­mence­ment speaker for the Col­lege of Lib­eral Arts and Sciences. She is a mem­ber of the Po­lit­i­cal Science Honor So­ci­ety and Pi Sigma Al­pha. Tay­lor at­tended the Sloop In­sti­tute for Ex­cel­lence in Lead­er­ship Con­fer­ence. She pre­sented her re­search at the An­nual FSU Un­der­grad­u­ate Re­search Sym­po­sium and the North­east Po­lit­i­cal Science As­so­ci­a­tion An­nual Meet­ing. Tay­lor plans to at­tend grad­u­ate school in pur­suit of an aca­demic ca­reer.

Mills, Simms grad­u­ate from Marist Col­lege

Tiffany Mills of Hugh­esville and Camilla Simms of La Plata grad­u­ated from Marist Col­lege the week­end of May 20.

Mills re­ceived a mas­ter of arts in in­te­grated mar­ket­ing com­mu­ni­ca­tion.

Do­ran named to dean’s list at Iowa State Univer­sity

Katie Lynn Do­ran of Wal­dorf was named to the dean’s list at Iowa State Univer­sity for the spring 2016 se­mes­ter. Do­ran is a com­mu­ni­ca­tion stud­ies ma­jor.

Stu­dents named to the Dean’s List must have earned a grade point av­er­age of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while car­ry­ing a min­i­mum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

Lo­cal cadets named to dean’s list at The Citadel

Justin Craft of Wal­dorf and Bren­dan Wright of La Plata, mem­bers of The Citadel South Carolina Corps of Cadets, were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 se­mes­ter.

Dean’s list recog­ni­tion is given to cadets reg­is­tered for 12 or more se­mes­ter hours and whose grade point av­er­age is 3.2 or higher with no grade be­low a C for the pre­vi­ous se­mes­ter’s work.

Lo­cal stu­dents named to dean’s list at St. Mary’s Col­lege

The fol­low­ing lo­cal stu­dents were awarded dean’s list aca­demic hon­ors for the spring 2016 se­mes­ter at St. Mary’s Col­lege of Mary­land. Dean’s list hon­ors are awarded to full-time stu­dents at St. Mary’s Col­lege who earn a se­mes­ter grade-point av­er­age of 3.5 or bet­ter on 12 or more graded cred­its.

Reynolds re­ceives de­gree from Ge­or­gia Tech

James Reynolds of Wal­dorf re­ceived a mas­ter of science in aero­space engi­neer­ing from the Ge­or­gia In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy dur­ing com­mence­ment ex­er­cises on May 6 and 7 at the McCamish Pavil­ion in At­lanta.

Robin­son grad­u­ates from Wi­dener Univer­sity

Shante Robin­son of In­dian Head grad­u­ated from Wi­dener Univer­sity with a bach­e­lor of arts in so­ci­ol­ogy dur­ing com­mence­ment cer­e­monies on May 20 and 21.

Ford, Jenk­ins grad­u­ate from Hood Col­lege

Jared Ford and James Jenk­ins earned bach­e­lor’s de­grees from Hood Col­lege in May. Ford is a 2012 grad­u­ate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School. He grad­u­ated with a ma­jor in busi­ness ad­min­is­tra­tion with con­cen­tra­tions in mar­ket­ing and fi­nance and a mi­nor in eco­nom­ics. He plans to be­gin work­ing full time.

Jenk­ins is a 2012 grad­u­ate of Bishop McNa­mara High School. He grad­u­ated with a ma­jor in law and so­ci­ety and a mi­nor in crim­i­nal delin­quency. He plans to at­tend law school.

Fitzsim­mons named to dean’s list at Wi­dener Univer­sity

Laura Fitzsim­mons of Wel­come was named to the dean’s list at Wi­dener Univer­sity for the spring 2016 se­mes­ter. The dean’s list rec­og­nizes full-time stu­dents who earned a grade point av­er­age of 3.50 and above for the se­mes­ter.

Fitzsim­mons is an early years/spe­cial ed­u­ca­tion ma­jor.

Nunn ap­pointed to West Point

Derek Nunn ac­cepted an of­fer to the U.S. Mil­i­tary Academy at West Point. He was among 15 Fifth District stu­dents nom­i­nated by Con­gress­man Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) for ap­point­ment to the United States Ser­vice Acad­e­mies. Rep. Hoyer hosted an Academy Tea Re­cep­tion in their honor June 13 at the Li­brar y of Congress in Wash­ing­ton.

Nunn is a grad­u­ate of North Point High School, Wal­dorf.

Barnes named to dean’s list at Quin­nip­iac Univer­sity

Alexan­dria Barnes of Wal­dorf was named to the dean’s list at Quin­nip­iac Univer­sity for the spring 2016 se­mes­ter. To qual­ify for the dean’s list, stu­dents must earn a grade point av­er­age of at least 3.5 with no grade lower can C. Full-time stu­dents must com­plete at least 14 cred­its in a se­mes­ter, with at least 12 cred­its that have been graded on a let­ter grade ba­sis to be el­i­gi­ble. Part-time stu­dents must com­plete at least six cred­its dur­ing a se­mes­ter.

Keyser grad­u­ates with hon­ors from James Madi­son

Kait­lyn Keyser of Wal­dorf grad­u­ated with hon­ors from James Madi­son Univer­sity dur­ing com­mence­ment ex­er­cises on May 6.

Keyser grad­u­ated magna cum laude with a de­gree in ath­letic train­ing.

Liu named to pres­i­dent’s list at Ce­cil Col­lege

Si­mon Liu of Wal­dorf was named to the pres­i­dent’s list at Ce­cil Col­lege for the spring 2016 se­mes­ter. To qual­ify for the pres­i­dent’s list, stu­dents must earn a grade point av­er­age of 3.75 or bet­ter for that se­mes­ter.
