• Zachary Keeler of Waldorf received departmental honors in management. He is a double major in business administration, with a concentration in management, and economics. He has been named to the dean’s list. Keeler is active in the student community, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and the President’s Leadership Circle and is the recipient of academic scholarships and awards. He has also earned a spot as a Capital One Academic All American. He plans to pursue his MBA and seeks a future in consulting.
• Caitlin Taylor of Waldorf received honors in general education and departmental honors in political science. She was the top student in the graduating class of political science majors and the May 2016 commencement speaker for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She is a member of the Political Science Honor Society and Pi Sigma Alpha. Taylor attended the Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership Conference. She presented her research at the Annual FSU Undergraduate Research Symposium and the Northeast Political Science Association Annual Meeting. Taylor plans to attend graduate school in pursuit of an academic career.
Mills, Simms graduate from Marist College
Tiffany Mills of Hughesville and Camilla Simms of La Plata graduated from Marist College the weekend of May 20.
Mills received a master of arts in integrated marketing communication.

Doran named to dean’s list at Iowa State University
Katie Lynn Doran of Waldorf was named to the dean’s list at Iowa State University for the spring 2016 semester. Doran is a communication studies major.
Students named to the Dean’s List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.
Local cadets named to dean’s list at The Citadel
Justin Craft of Waldorf and Brendan Wright of La Plata, members of The Citadel South Carolina Corps of Cadets, were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester.
Dean’s list recognition is given to cadets registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade point average is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester’s work.

Reynolds receives degree from Georgia Tech
James Reynolds of Waldorf received a master of science in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology during commencement exercises on May 6 and 7 at the McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta.
Robinson graduates from Widener University
Shante Robinson of Indian Head graduated from Widener University with a bachelor of arts in sociology during commencement ceremonies on May 20 and 21.
Ford, Jenkins graduate from Hood College
Jared Ford and James Jenkins earned bachelor’s degrees from Hood College in May. Ford is a 2012 graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School. He graduated with a major in business administration with concentrations in marketing and finance and a minor in economics. He plans to begin working full time.
Jenkins is a 2012 graduate of Bishop McNamara High School. He graduated with a major in law and society and a minor in criminal delinquency. He plans to attend law school.
Fitzsimmons named to dean’s list at Widener University
Laura Fitzsimmons of Welcome was named to the dean’s list at Widener University for the spring 2016 semester. The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who earned a grade point average of 3.50 and above for the semester.
Fitzsimmons is an early years/special education major.
Nunn appointed to West Point
Derek Nunn accepted an offer to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He was among 15 Fifth District students nominated by Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) for appointment to the United States Service Academies. Rep. Hoyer hosted an Academy Tea Reception in their honor June 13 at the Librar y of Congress in Washington.
Nunn is a graduate of North Point High School, Waldorf.
Barnes named to dean’s list at Quinnipiac University
Alexandria Barnes of Waldorf was named to the dean’s list at Quinnipiac University for the spring 2016 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower can C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.
