McDonald’s stops giving fitness tracker

Maryland Independent - - Business -

McDonald’s is removing colorful, plastic pedometers from children’s Happy Meals over concerns of skin irritation. The toys were part of a four-week promotion.

“We have taken this swift and voluntary step after receiving limited reports of potential skin irritations that may be associated from wearing the band,” company spokeswoman Terri Hickey said in a statement made available to press organizations. “Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers and we are fully investigating this issue.”

The Step-It activity trackers measure steps and blinks quickly or slowly depending on the amount of activity.
