Anti-gun rant ignored facts
In reply to the letter to the editor, “The disaffected find guns an easy answer,” in the Aug. 26 edition of the Mar yland Independent, as with most anti-gun rants, Ms. Pippin chooses not to use and/or cite any facts. Why? Because facts do not support their argument.
States that allow responsibly armed citizens their right to bear arms have much lower violent crime rates than those who don’t.
She says law enforcement “come down squarely against” increased gun ownership. I guess the advice of Washington, D.C., Chief Cathy Lanier and Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clark aren’t considered in her survey as both have said that armed citizens are our best first line of defense against the criminals. She states something about “indifference to and impunity of police to kill blacks ...,” but misses the fact that three out of four people shot by police are not black.
It’s time to face facts — responsibly trained and armed citizens are not a threat to your way of life: we are here to defend it.
