No longer responding to Islamophobic comments
Some of my friends have objected to my referring to Israel in my response to Albert Graham’s hate letter of July 27. I wish to make it clear that my reference was purely to the government of Israel — not to the state or the people. Most of us have issues with our own government policies, but those issues, however strong, don’t represent our feeling for our country. Regardless of how bad our government policies are, we love our country and we love our people.
We, the area Muslims, have decided not to respond to Islamophobic hate letters anymore, because fighting fire with fire only adds to fire; it does not bring peace, which is the goal of all religions. We will continue to be good citizens and good neighbors and not pay attention to an occasional anti-Muslim rant anymore.
Our mosque is open to people of all faiths. Everyone is welcome to share their faith or learn about ours or to join us in community service.
We are planning an International Food Festival in Charles County. Community input is welcome. Muhammad Ameen, La Plata
