Pipeline owners sponsor first responder training
Dominion Transmission Inc. and NuStar Terminals Operations Partnership LP are hosting pipeline safety training for first responders, according to a press release.
The local pipeline operators in Calvert and Charles counties and St. Mary’s County, respectively, are providing the first responder training at no cost.
The 90-minute training meetings will include a meal and an incident exercise geared toward improving communication between first responders and pipeline operators in the event of an emergency.
The class will cover leak recognition and response; product hazards and characteristics; safety initiatives; pipeline purpose and reliability; and defining “high consequence areas.”
The two meetings in the Southern Maryland area are 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center & Marina, 155 Holiday Drive in Solomons, and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Camelot by Martin’s, 13905 Central Ave. in Upper Marlboro.
