Pipe­line own­ers spon­sor first re­spon­der train­ing

Do­min­ion Trans­mis­sion Inc. and NuS­tar Ter­mi­nals Oper­a­tions Part­ner­ship LP are host­ing pipe­line safety train­ing for first re­spon­ders, ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease.

The lo­cal pipe­line op­er­a­tors in Calvert and Charles coun­ties and St. Mary’s County, re­spec­tively, are pro­vid­ing the first re­spon­der train­ing at no cost.

The 90-minute train­ing meet­ings will in­clude a meal and an in­ci­dent ex­er­cise geared to­ward im­prov­ing com­mu­ni­ca­tion be­tween first re­spon­ders and pipe­line op­er­a­tors in the event of an emer­gency.

The class will cover leak recog­ni­tion and re­sponse; prod­uct haz­ards and char­ac­ter­is­tics; safety ini­tia­tives; pipe­line pur­pose and re­li­a­bil­ity; and defin­ing “high con­se­quence ar­eas.”

The two meet­ings in the South­ern Mary­land area are 5:30 p.m. Tues­day, Oct. 11, at the Hol­i­day Inn Con­fer­ence Cen­ter & Ma­rina, 155 Hol­i­day Drive in Solomons, and 5:30 p.m. Wed­nes­day, Oct. 12, at Camelot by Martin’s, 13905 Cen­tral Ave. in Up­per Marl­boro.
