Blue Crabs shut out New Bri­tain to start fi­nal home se­ries

Gren­ing gets 10th win of sea­son; Nel­son sets league record for most games played

Com­ing off a 5-4 vic­tory over Sugar Land on Sun­day af­ter­noon to sal­vage a game in a three-game home week­end se­ries, the South­ern Mary­land Blue Crabs kicked off their last home se­ries of the sea­son on Mon­day night look­ing to con­tinue their win­ning ways.

The Blue Crabs would de­liver with a 6-0 shutout of the New Bri­tain Bees in the first of a three-game set at Re­gency Fur­ni­ture Sta­dium in Wal­dorf.

South­ern Mary­land (56-78 over­all, 3034 sec­ond half) sat five games back of first-place York in the At­lantic League’s Free­dom Divi­sion stand­ings with six games re­main­ing. The sec­ond game of the se­ries was Tues­day with the se­ries fi­nale and last home game of the sea­son is sched­uled for 7:05 tonight. The Blue Crabs then end the reg­u­lar sea­son with a four-game se­ries ver­sus Sugar Land in Texas.
