Blue Crabs shut out New Britain to start final home series

Coming off a 5-4 victory over Sugar Land on Sunday afternoon to salvage a game in a three-game home weekend series, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs kicked off their last home series of the season on Monday night looking to continue their winning ways.
The Blue Crabs would deliver with a 6-0 shutout of the New Britain Bees in the first of a three-game set at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf.
Southern Maryland (56-78 overall, 3034 second half) sat five games back of first-place York in the Atlantic League’s Freedom Division standings with six games remaining. The second game of the series was Tuesday with the series finale and last home game of the season is scheduled for 7:05 tonight. The Blue Crabs then end the regular season with a four-game series versus Sugar Land in Texas.
