To accommodate fair-goers this year, the Charles County Fair has worked closely with the sheriff’s office to optimize its traffic and parking plan.

All traffic into the fair must enter Fairgrounds Road from the south entrance off of Bel Alton Newtown Road. All traffic leaving the fair must travel north from the parking lot onto Fairgrounds Road, exiting onto U.S. 301. There will be no non-local, two-way traffic on Fairgrounds Road.

A free shuttle bus service will take passengers from the La Plata courthouse parking lot directly to the front gate of the fair, and is strongly recommended. The bus will have direct access to Fairgrounds Road and will not have to enter by way of Bel Alton Newtown Road.

Courtesy of Pizza Hotline in La Plata, each shuttle bus rider will also receive a coupon that will get them $1 off the fair ticket price of $5. Additionally, each rider can redeem the coupon for a free pizza after the fair.

The shuttle bus service will be operating Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.

The sheriff’s office reminds fair-goers not to leave valuables inside their vehicles in plain sight, and to report any suspicious activity.
