Recycling efforts are difficult
County trash and recycling does not service the part of La Plata where I reside (Medford Court). Those in my small community (home owners and taxpayers all) carry their trash to the Pisgah Recycling Center, which requires that we separate our trash ($2.50 per trash bag) from our “single stream” recyclables (free).
Last week, when I brought in a small cardboard box of recyclables, the attendant told me to contact the Charles County landfill, who would supply me with a large, blue recycle bin. When I called the county, they told me that because their trucks don’t pick up trash in my part of La Plata, they could not supply me with a recycle bin. It seems to me that since the county requires us to recycle, they should be willing supply us with the same container they supply to the rest of La Plata, in the interest of encouraging recycling.
