Man killed in two-vehicle crash Monday
Uninvolved driver injured by debris
Police say a man was killed in a car accident in White Plains on Monday evening after failing to stop at a red light.
Brian Joseph Morgal, 40, of La Plata was pronounced dead at the scene following the two-vehicle collision, according to authorities. The other driver refused medical treatment, though an uninvolved driver stopped at the intersection was
taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after his vehicle was hit by debris.
Around 8:37 p.m. on Sept. 19, Maryland State Police troopers from the La Plata barrack responded to the intersection of U.S. 301 and Route 227, a press release states. Preliminary investigation showed that Morgal had been traveling southbound on U.S. 301 in a GMC Sonoma when he failed to stop at a red light. As he crossed the intersection, Morgal collided with a Ford F-350.
This was the 13th traffic fatality of the year in Charles County.
An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack Duty Officer at 301-392-1200. The investigation is continuing and being investigated by Tfc. D. Buckalew and Trooper Zentkovich.
