Beware of Russia

Donald Trump’s adulation of Vladimir Putin would be comical it weren’t so dangerous. Trump’s incredible narcissism and need for adoration are on full display with his fawning and childish comments about Putin. “If he says great things about me, I’m going to say great things about him.” Really? “I think he’s going to respect your president, if I’m elected. And I hope he likes me.” Seriously? And this classic, where he encourages Russia to hack into our email system: “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.” Well, they were listening, because they just hacked into the medical records of our Olympic athletes. Putin is no fool, but Trump is, and Putin knows it. Putin has manipulated and used him, by simple flattery, to praise and promote his (Putin’s) strength as a leader and his foreign policy objectives, including weakening or destroying NATO, denigrating America as a world power and casting doubt on democratic institutions. If, God forbid, Trump were to win the election, we might very well become the United States of the Soviet Socialist Republic.
