Giant Food launches A+ school program for 2016-2017 school year
Giant Food launched its annual A+ School Rewards program for the 2016-2017 school year. The annual fundraiser helps customers earn funds for up to two local schools with every shopping trip, according to a press release.
Since 1989, Giant has helped local schools by donating more than $94 million through the program.
Last year’s program generated a $2 million donation for 1,466 public and private schools in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Delaware, with a record-breaking 20 schools receiving over $10,000 each in awards, according to a press release.
Giant customers who wish to participate in the program can sign up now and designate up to two schools in their community by visiting their local store or at www.giantfood.com. A+ School Rewards are accrued with each purchase made using the Giant card.
In the past, schools have used their A+ School Rewards grant funds for technology upgrades, scholarship programs, field trips, playgrounds and other educational needs.
Customers do not need to have a child in school to support their local community. Schools began earning points on Oct. 7. The program continues through March 16.
