One killed in Accokeek crash, two transported
A man was killed in a three-vehicle accident during the early hours Saturday in Accokeek, and police are continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
Authorities have identified the man as Jaylen Williams, 21, of Upper Marlboro, according to a news release. The other two drivers were both taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Around 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 15, officers
of the Prince George’s Police Department responded to the crash at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Berry Road, the release states. Upon arrival, they found Williams suffering from severe injuries, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Preliminary investigation showed that Williams was traveling northbound on Indian Head Highway, approaching the intersection of Berry Road, as two cars were turning left from the southbound lanes of Indian Head Highway onto Berry Road, according to police. Williams reportedly ran a red light and struck both cars as they crossed the intersection.
