The award recognized the Southern Maryland group’s Secret Santa for Seniors program which has been around since 2008. The campaign is organized each year to provide holiday gifts to those less fortunate seniors.

The award includes $9,000 in prize money to be distributed to local charities, which are Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Meals on Wheels for Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s, Fortitude Housing of Southern Maryland, Animal Shelters for Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s, Pajama Connection and Project Linus. This award marks the ninth year SMAR members have received it.
