La Plata High School band named state champions
The La Plata High School Marching Band, left, recently won at the 2016 US-Bands Maryland State Championships held at Towson University. The group was named the Maryland State Group 1A Marching Band champions. The band won awards for best music, best visual, best guard, best overall effect and best guard, as well as the Cadet Award of Excellence for the highest achievement in the area of creativity, excellence and overall effect. The group won this award by beating 20 other bands. The Marching Warriors move onto the national competition in Allentown, Pa. this weekend.
