Davis, RPI win ti­tle

Maryland Independent - - Sports - Rens­se­laer Polytech­nic In­sti­tute (N.Y.)

Gar­rett Davis, a North Point High School grad­u­ate from Wal­dorf, was an in­te­gral part of the na­tion­ally-ranked Rens­se­laer Polytech­nic In­sti­tute (N.Y.) men’s cross coun­try team win­ning its first out­right Lib­erty League Cham­pi­onship on Oct. 29 at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva, N.Y.

Davis, a aero­nau­ti­cal en­gi­neer­ing ma­jor, is a se­nior cap­tain who fin­ished fourth on the team and fifth over­all of the 128 run­ners with a time of 25 min­utes 48.9 sec­onds (a 5 min­utes 12 sec­onds pace) to earn All-Lib­erty League first­team hon­ors.

RPI, which is coached by John Lynch, had seven of the first 12 fin­ish­ers in cap­tur­ing the team ti­tle with 22 points.
