Thank you, Hogan, for new Nice bridge

Maryland Independent - - Community Forum -

I am writing in regard to your piece on Gov. Larry Hogan’s plan for construction of a new Gov. Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge.

As a lifetime resident of Southern Maryland, I can say wholeheartedly that this new bridge will be a much welcome change. I have made the trip across the current bridge to King George, Va., on multiple occasions and each time it has been an exercise in patience. From the frequent congestion to the narrow lanes, the current bridge has tested my com- posure more times than not. Worse yet have been the empty promises from local politicians to fix the problems plaguing the bridge and their failure to progress any further than talking about it.

Kudos to Governor Hogan for putting people before politics and taking the initiative to not only cement a plan for a new bridge’s construction, but also setting a completion date a full decade earlier than anticipated.
