Woman dies af­ter Aquasco crash

Po­lice in­ves­ti­gat­ing why car left road­way, strik­ing tree

Af­ter she was se­verely in­jured in a sin­gle-vehi- cle ac­ci­dent last week in Aquasco, po­lice an­nounced Mon­day that a Hugh­esville woman has died in the hos­pi­tal.

Au­thor­i­ties have iden­ti­fied the vic­tim as Diane Ta­tum, 54, who had been a pas­sen­ger in the car when it left the road and struck a tree. The driver was also taken to the hos- pital with se­ri­ous in­juries, but is now in sta­ble con­di­tion, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

Around 3:10 p.m. on Nov. 24, of­fi­cers of the Prince Ge­orge’s County Po­lice De­part­ment re­sponded to the in­ter­sec­tion of Aquasco Road and Croom Road for a re­ported crash in­volv­ing a sin­gle ve­hi­cle, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease. Upon ar­rival, po­lice found Ta­tum un­re­spon­sive inside the car,

and she was trans­ported to a hos­pi­tal in crit­i­cal con­di­tion. She died Satur- day from her in­juries.

A pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion shows the car was head­ing south­bound on Aquasco Road when it left the road­way and struck a tree, po­lice re­port. The agency’s col­li­sion anal­y­sis and re­con­struc­tion unit is con­tin­u­ing to in­ves­ti­gate the ac­ci­dent and what caused the ve­hi­cle to leave the road.
