La Plata Gar­den Club in­stalls 2017 of­fi­cers

‘Eller­sie,’ the his­toric home of Denise and Kevin Grote, was the set­ting for the in­vesti­ture of the re­cently elected of­fi­cers of the La Plata Gar­den Club. ‘Eller­sie’ was the child­hood home of Sir Thomas Jen­nifer, a Mary­land signer of the Dec­la­ra­tion of In­de­pen­dence.

The new gar­den club of­fi­cers will pre­side over club ac­tiv­i­ties which in­clude monthly plant science speak­ers, the Star Me­mo­rial Gar­den hon­or­ing those in­volved in the 2002 tor­nado, county wide beau­ti­fi­ca­tion projects, sum­mer gar­den walks, plant/yard sales, pub­lic school science awards, and two Charles County schol­ar­ships.

The in­vesti­ture was un­der the di­rec­tion of Anna O’Kelly, Fed­er­ated Gar­den Clubs of Mary­land District II di­rec­tor.
