Two killed in New­burg car ac­ci­dent

Po­lice say two men were killed in a three-ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on Fri­day night in New­burg.

Cur­tis Bell Jr., 46, of Galve­ston, Texas, and his pas­sen­ger, Xavier Hayes of Houston, were both pro­nounced dead on the scene by emer­gency med­i­cal per­son­nel, author­i­ties re­ported.

Around 7:58 p.m. on Fri­day, Mary­land State Po­lice troop­ers re­sponded to the crash at the in­ter­sec­tion of U.S. 301 and Or­land Park Drive, a news re­lease states. Pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion showed that Bell, driv­ing a Honda Civic, re­port­edly failed to yield the right of way when turn­ing left onto Or­land Park Drive from north­bound U.S. 301, caus­ing the car to en­ter the path of a Mercedes Benz van head­ing south on U.S. 301.
