Pedes­trian struck, killed by ve­hi­cle

Po­lice say a man was struck and killed by a mo­tor ve­hi­cle on Satur- day in Wal­dorf.

An­thony David Do­er­ing, 50, re­port­edly walked into the east- bound lanes of Route 228, near Bunker Hill Road, and into the trav- el path of a Chevrolet Tra­verse, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease from Mary­land State Po­lice. In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve pedes­trian er­ror caused the ac­ci­dent and are try­ing to de­ter­mine if al­co­hol may have been a fac­tor.

Around 5:35 p.m. on

Satur­day, Mary­land State Po­lice troop­ers re­sponded to the scene and found Do­er­ing had been struck, au­thor­i­ties re­ported. Med­i­cal per- son­nel from the Charles County Depart­ment of Emer­gency Ser­vices ren­dered aid and at- tempted to re­sus­ci­tate him, but Do­er­ing was pro­nounced dead on the scene.
