House fire ruled ar­son

Au­thor­i­ties say a fire that de­stroyed a Wal­dorf home early Satur­day morn­ing was in­ten­tion­ally set and has been ruled as ar­son.

The two-story home lo­cated in the 2100 block of Bri­ar­wood Drive was un­oc­cu­pied at the time of the fire, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease from the Of­fice of the State Fire Mar­shal. No in­juries were re­ported.

Around 4:17 a.m. on Sat- ur­day, 45 fire­fight­ers from the Wal­dorf vol­un­teer fire depart­ment and the sur- round­ing area re­sponded to the house and be­gan bat­tling the flames, ac­cord- ing to the re­port. It took about 30 min­utes to get the fire un­der con­trol, and the home sus­tained an es­ti­mat- ed $300,000 in to­tal damag- es. In­ves­ti­ga­tors later de- ter­mined that an some­one had en­tered the house and in­ten­tion­ally set the fire on the first floor.
