House fire ruled arson
Authorities say a fire that destroyed a Waldorf home early Saturday morning was intentionally set and has been ruled as arson.
The two-story home located in the 2100 block of Briarwood Drive was unoccupied at the time of the fire, according to a news release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. No injuries were reported.
Around 4:17 a.m. on Sat- urday, 45 firefighters from the Waldorf volunteer fire department and the sur- rounding area responded to the house and began battling the flames, accord- ing to the report. It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control, and the home sustained an estimat- ed $300,000 in total damag- es. Investigators later de- termined that an someone had entered the house and intentionally set the fire on the first floor.
