Satur­day, Feb. 11

The Veter­ans Demo­cratic Club of Charles

County and Vicin­ity will meet 10 a.m. at 3385 Metropoli­tan Church Road, In­dian Head. The club’s speaker will be Charles County Com­mis­sion­ers’ Pres­i­dent Peter Mur­phy. Mur­phy plans to speak on county goals for 2017 and will an­swer ques­tions from the au­di­ence. The brief­ing will be open to the public. Full club mem­ber­ship is open to non-veter­ans. The Charles County Board of Ap­peals will meet 7 p.m. in the com­mis­sion­ers’ meet­ing room at the Charles County Gov­ern­ment Build­ing, 200 Bal­ti­more St., La Plata.

Wed­nes­day, Feb. 15

The Charles County Com­mis­sion­ers will hold the Fe­bru­ary town hall meet­ing for District 1 at 6 p.m. at the County Gov­ern­ment Build­ing, 200 Bal­ti­more St., La Plata. The pur­pose of com­mis­sioner town hall meet­ings is to take ques­tions from those in at­ten­dance and to dis­cuss items of im­por­tance to the cit­i­zens and the com­mu­nity. Fu­ture town hall meet­ing dates are avail­able at www.CharlesCoun­tyMD.gov. The Na­tional Oceanic and At­mo­spheric

Ad­min­is­tra­tion (NOAA) has re­leased the draft plan to des­ig­nate Mal­lows Bay in Nan­je­moy as a Na­tional Ma­rine Sanc­tu­ary. A public meet­ing dis­cussing the draft plan will be held 6-9 p.m. at the Charles County Gov­ern­ment Build­ing, 200 Bal­ti­more St., La Plata. Mal­lows Bay’s des­ig­na­tion as a Na­tional Ma­rine Sanc­tu­ary will be the first for the state of Mary­land and the Ch­e­sa­peake Bay wa­ter­shed. The sec­ond public meet­ing will be held 6-9 p.m. Thurs­day, March 9, at Anne Arun­del Com­mu­nity Col­lege (101 Col­lege Park­way, Arnold).
