So. Md. Film Festival to host mini events in region
The Southern Maryland Film Festival has announced plans to hold several Mini-Film Festivals throughout 2017 in all three Southern Maryland counties, rather than its regular two-day program centered in Leonardtown. Attendees of the 2017 mini fests will see the best of the films the festival has offered over the previous two years, as well a sneak preview of movies being entered into the 2018 festival.
By partnering with new host communities, Wood said the steering committee is “hoping to find new audiences, new filmmakers and new sponsors for future film festivals” to be held in Leonardtown. Wood said the festival will return to Leonardtown with meet-and-greet receptions, Q&A sessions with filmmakers and panel discussions in 2018.
The Southern Maryland Film Festival was created in 2015 as a place for local filmmakers to showcase their work, and to introduce audiences to the unique styles, experiences and perspectives of filmmakers in the tri-county area.
